John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people through his songs of pop-folk and many of them inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., born Henry John Deutschendorf at Roswell located in the state of New Mexico,, was in Love with Colorado. He settled in Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Today he personifies the state for all people. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other side of the world or someone of New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief career performing in small folk group comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the song to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single when he first heard it. Just a few days after performing to an excited audience in Washington D.C., the singer recorded this song.
